# 030 Language and Psychology
[[15-11-2022]] (Going to focus on this for a month to generate new notes and understanding)
I first became interested in these area after reading a #solution-focus brief therapy book [[202011030843 Chapter 6 Don't Think, But Observe]] . That lead me to this book [[202009071534 Notes Reading Wittgenstein and Psychotherapy. From Paradox to wonder. John M. Heaton]]. I am fascinated to see the links between language, communication and psychotherapy.
I am curious about how language affects the mind, behavior and shape our experience of reality. Cultural differences; do different culture have different kind of psychology; and thus different manifestation of psychological symptoms?
Some notes:
- [[How language distorts reality]]
- [[Book - Language and Mind, by Noam Chomsky]]

PLAN
1. I should review the notes I have for this area
2. Classify and distil them into areas and context
3. Then I will be able to know what i know, and then fill up the knowledge gaps.
- Re-Reading [[202011030843 Chapter 6 Don't Think, But Observe]]
- There are both pros and cons of having Theories; while it eliminate uncertainties, it can also limit possibilities.
- A poorly formed theory is one that is not generalizable.
- Facts should change theory, not theory changes facts.
- Language is like a game; that has it's rules. Words outside of it's context easily loses it's meaning.
- Describing is important then explaining.
When people say, they "should", or "must", i wonder are they constraint?
