\# 202103290839 Reflection on energy and system [[Blog Index]] https://moseshng.wordpress.com/2021/04/05/reflection-on-energy-and-system/ \[\[29-03-2021\]\] \[\[Systemic\]\] Edit \[\[05-04-2021\]\] **Energy** - Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It merely converts from one form into another. \- _"First Law of Thermodynamics: Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed. The total amount of energy and matter in the Universe remains constant, merely changing from one form to another. The First Law of Thermodynamics (Conservation) states that energy is always conserved, it cannot be created or destroyed. In essence, energy can be converted from one form into another." https://www2.estrellamountain.edu/faculty/farabee/biobk/biobookener1.html_ - Energy renews at a different rate. **About balance, homeostasis, stability, harmony** - Ecological systems seek compensation. When it is not balanced, it finds ways to compensate. (I think same as an environmental system, perhaps similar in human relational systems) - To resist entropy. Energy is needed to maintain order in the system. - "Entropy is a measure of the degree of randomness or disorder of systems." **A balanced and unbalanced system** - A harmonious system is connected to a broader network of systems, and energy flows in and out of it. - An imbalance system has blockages, thus to maintain a functional level, energy is needed to resist entropy. (Energy that is redirected from somewhere else) - Inter-connectedness; see that we are part of a network, and energy flows from one node to another. **Distance and gravitational force** - There are "gravitational" forces in systems **Worker's position** - When we try to influence a network, the energy come from us. - Our energy (or power capacity) is limited, and something got to give. Attention given to a client is attention taken away from another. - How close you are to the network determine how much involvement and energy needed. Or how invested you are emotional in it (and why?) - Feeling tired may be a sign that you have become over-involved. **What is the assumptions and intentions of our work?** - To solve the clients' problem, or to help clients solve their problem themselves? We can give directions, ask reflective questions to help them think about their situation themselves. When my own emotional, mental, physical, relational system functions well, I have the energy and capacity to be life-giving.
