### [Book] Motivational Interviewing. Helping people change by William R Miller, Stephen Rollnick
- I was reminded that it is not me who has the power to change anyone. It is the people themselves who have the resource and ability to change if they want to. This book reminded me of that perspective.
- To be a gentle and supportive worker to hear the "change talk" from my clients. The desire for any change comes from the clients.
### [Concepts] Solution-focused Case Management
- I thought the M.I approach is quite similar to the Solution Focused Brief Therapy perspective. Insoo Kim Berg talks about the "The tap on the shoulder" idea. I find my position evolved as I gained experience. I used to hold more assumptions and expect certain outcomes; nowadays, I think I have a greater tolerance to uncertainty.
### [Book] Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E Frankl
Returning to this book one afternoon as I find myself getting into an existential crisis. Viktor Frankl story is inspirational.
"He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how. - Friedrich Nietzsche"
I think the book reminded me that life had given me gifts and talents, and blessings. So what am I going to do with it at this moment? Not about life telling me what to do, but what I am answering to life?, my response is, "This is what I am going to do".
https://viktorfranklamerica.com/what-is-logotherapy/ Meaning comes from producing work, connection with others and my view of life.
### [Book] Think Again by Adam Grant
https://moseshng.wordpress.com/2021/06/20/who-is-karl-popper/
I learnt that there are different thinking styles/ or positions a person can take. I want to think more like a scientist. Disprove my assumptions and belief. Recognize that I have blind spots and biases.
And It is OK to be wrong, and that leads to knowledge.
When it comes to working with others, it is more constructive to debate about the "How/ or methods" and then question the "Why". However, I think that makes people become defensive and harden.
### [Book] The Extended Mind. The power of thinking outside the brain by Annie Murphy Paul
I am surprised to learn that I don't just think "in my head", but through my body as well.
To be more attuned with my senses, body. (This is in agreement with the mindfulness, meditation, body scan practice. Body-mind connection
To move, go for a walk when I want to think. I always felt better when I go for walks and spending time in nature.
Also, to embrace my tendency to gesture when I speak.
**What I'm learning now**
## Research and learning Statistics
I'm involved in a research project at work. Find myself not being to catch up with the discussion when it comes to statistics. So I am going to refresh and pick it up again.
I found the following resources:

## Data Science
I am also curious about what is Data Science, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6BghzuFLIg
Seeing the potential of how data science can add value to work, I watched the following video:

## Programming
Now I am curious about learning Python.
Found the following resources:

I signed up for a course on Coursera https://www.coursera.org/learn/python-crash-course/home/welcome
## other curiosities
### History of Islamic Extremism?
The Arfanganistan Taliban news also made me curious, what are the history of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_extremism, i.e. What's the difference between the different extremist groups? I am going to read up on that.
### [Lots of Anime]
I got hooked on Haikyu! and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
Watercolour painting of Saki K
## Health
### Natto
I tried and like to eat Natto for breakfast now. Good for health.
### Freelectics workouts
After exploring several other apps, I decided to return to freelectics. I needed one single app to tell me what to do. I'm not particularly eager to plan my workout, so it should be as frictionless as possible.
### cycling, nature, picnic
Since we haven't been able to travel (COVID), my friends and I have cycled and spent time in nature.
