**20220709 When fathers seem to know everything** [[09-07-2022]] **Observation just now at the Island.** [[Fatherhood]] #father [[🏠 Fatherhood]] Just now at Coney Island. I saw a father and son swimming. The boy is 6..7 years old, playing in the water. His father picked up shells for him to observe. The father stands and guards over him while the son wades in the water. A while later, there is another father and son arrived. The son looks like he's about 14.. 16? He asked his father many questions about shells and crabs.."how come this, how come that.. " and his father answers him. I thought to myself, there was a time when we felt that our father knew everything and was capable of everything. Then one day, we realised that our father didn't know everything. Was there a sense of disillusionment, disappointment? That we have to navigate life on our own now? Can we no longer depend on this man? Our idea about fathers. Fathers do try to answer whatever questions their children have.
