I’m still figuring this out, but here’s what I’ve learned so far: 1. The intervention/tool/innovation is the “thing”, and the implementation strategies are the “stuff” we do to help people use that “thing.” (Source: PubMed and Implementation Science Communications) 2. Implementation science is basically a systematic way to organize the “why” behind doing all that “stuff.” It’s like the science of figuring out why certain strategies work to help people adopt new tools or ideas. 3. It’s a bit like in counseling or psychotherapy, where there are different theories and frameworks that guide how we ask questions or use interventions with clients. In the same way, implementation science has its own theories and frameworks that explain how ideas and innovations spread, and why certain strategies work better than others. [[Implementation Science Theories and Frameworks]] 4. For example, there’s something called Diffusion of Innovation Theory, which explains how new ideas get adopted by different groups over time—like why it’s smart to get key people on board early. On the other hand, frameworks like CFIR help you figure out what barriers and supports are in place to make the innovation actually work in practice. 5. So, implementation science gives us a way to think more strategically about how we introduce new ideas and tools, rather than just hoping they’ll work by chance. 6. I attempt to familiar myself with as many framework and theories as possible, so that with more lenses i will be able to see from different angle, and have more freedom to select strategies. It’s a journey of learning!
