# Chapter 2. Cultural Dimensions of Psychopathology. The social world's impact on mental disorders.
Reading this on [[10-09-2022]], that psychopathology present themselves differently in different social. cultural context. I am thinking of the Japanese Kikimuri, and there are the Mexico etc, They social context result in problem being manifested differently, and one fixed diagnostic criterial doesn't cover.
It's between too general and too specific.
Socially, patient with family with high expressed emotions have poorer outcome.
In latin america, family reframe chronic illness in a positive way to get more social support for patients.
In some culture, women may present more frequently with certain problems, but that is because of their under-privilege situation; lesser education, more stress etc.. so we have to keep in mind the larger social factors that push people to become ill.
Illness and Diseases are different. One may be bio- physiologically caused.
Thinking, what's Singapore context? What's uniquely Singapore manifested illness?
