[[Mood EMA Index]] #mood_EMA #hope-s # Tasks: To create a list of positive emotions labels for users to select as part of Mood EMA. [[05-09-2023]] Let's do that based on the unifying framework I have put together. [[Unifying framework for intervention design]] ---- # 1. Review what we have in our MVP. - MVP Mood EMA design is based on converting what has been done into a digital version. Using scaling questions (-5 to +5). Because the initial lit review showed that different studies use different EMA design [[Mood EMA Index]] # 2. Currently, I am looking at coming out with "Positive Emotions" words for Mood EMA so that users can identify what kind of positive emotions they are feeling. But I need to base my selection on some evidence/models. # 3. So I read up on different models to classify emotions. There is the PANAS and Circumplex Model of Affects. # 4. Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) A self-report measure that organises emotions on two dimensions of positive and negative affect: ![[Pasted image 20230906113407.png]] # 5. Circumplex Model of Affects. Organises emotions along two Arousal (Activation/Deactivation) and Valence (Pleasant/Unpleasant) [[Circumplex Model of Affects]] has been referred/used before in previous research. In fact, this model has use cases/applications. It can be used in passive sensing. e.g by measuring skin conductivity, and heart rate to predict arousal level. EEG can show right or left hemisphere activation to predict positive/negative affect. ![[Screenshot 2023-09-05 at 5.12.58 PM.png]] # 6. Are there any real-world applications of this model? This app. The app "How We Feel?" is based on that model. https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/how-we-feel/id1562706384 In the app, there are so many words for different emotions, how do they do it? What is it based on? I think we should edit our Mood EMA to use the Circumplex Model. ## Considerations: Here are some reasons why we should consider switching to the Circumplex Model: 1. The Circumplex Model of Affect has received significant support and is considered a better explanation than the current Mood EMA design based on clinical experience. 2. It is more beneficial to use a model as a framework for passive sensing for mood, which is why a switch to the Circumplex Model is recommended. 1. Why we shouldn't change? ** 1. Current design also can work..but may not be as "scientific"? ==Unless we replace the emotion words based on PANAS for both negative and positive == ## Questions 1. If we use the circumplex model, how to derive RYG? How to determine RYG? 2. How would the Mood EMA selection look like? ---- ## What is the aim of Mood EMA -- 1. To provide active data to us - ClinDash/ RYG 2. Increase user self-awareness by doing self-monitoring 1.
